Having begun in 2007 as a loose peer network for people engaged in communication for development the C4D Network is now going online; to maximize the sharing of knowledge and experience of Network members – both in the UK and internationally. The Network offers people a chance to both meet face to face and online, for the exchange of information and experiences. Members include C4D practitioners in academia, in non-governmental organisations, in media and in allied communication arenas.
The new website offers information about Network events and happenings, as well as a place to share information – building up an A-Z of communication for development ideas, practice, and organisations and training information. The site also provides services for clients wishing to find communication for development specialists for consultancy assignments. It is with great pleasure that we now are launching the Communication for Development (C4D) Network website at www.c4d.org; the site is work progress and predicated on the belief that over time as a professional network we can build and develop our shared knowledge and make this information more broadly available online.
In building the C4D network and the allied services my abiding thought is simple – I think ‘if it is interesting to me, it may be interesting and useful for others’, that is the simplicity of the concept, and it seems to be working.’ Jackie Davies, C4D Company (Jackie.davies@c4d.org).
