I am PhD candidate at the University of Dar es Salaam Tanzania also attached to Ørecomm through the ‘Media Democracy and Emepowerment in East Africa Project‘, funded by Danida.

I am writing on an exploration of the role of FEMINA HIP Media Programme in promoting girls’ sexuality: ‘A Case Study of Kigamboni Ward, Dar es Salaam Tanzania’. I am in a analysis and writing stage. The main objective of this study is to explore how media use contributes to the empowerment of girls in the light of the stronghold social and cultural practices have on their everyday lives.
