Ørecomm takes off

| Ørecomm was officially launched on 22 July 2008 at the IAMCR conference “Media and Global Divides” in Stockholm. The event was arranged in cooperation with the IAMCR section on Participatory Communication Research. Ørecomm founding member and co-director Oscar Hemer introduced Ørecomm and chaired the session. This included presentations by Karin Wilkins, Jan Nederveen Pieterse and Ørecomm co-director Thomas Tufte.
The three presentations on “Articulating Power in Models of Development Communication” (Wilkins), “21st century globalization and development” (Pieterse) and “Entertainment-Education – new theoretical perspectives” (Obregon and Tufte) were followed by a lively discussion – cut short due to the time limits of the conference. |
