Conference: Citizenship, Democratic Participation and Civil Society in Global Perspective
Roskilde University, building 25.1, 12-13 May 2009.
The first day of the conference, Tuesday 12 May, will be dedicated to a series of public lectures by distinguished scholars from Latin America, Asia and Africa with comments from discussants based at civil society studies centres in Europe. Among the lecturers are Leonardo Avritzer (Brazil), Ajay Gudavarthi (India), Baruti Bahati Amisi (South Africa), and Enrique Peruzzotti (Argentina).

The second day of the conference will be a closed session of deliberations among the invited academics from Europe and the South, aiming to define what constitute urgent agendas within the field of citizenship, democratic participation and civil society studies, and patterns of future institutional collaboration.
The conference is organised by the “Centre for International Studies in Citizenship, Democratic Participation and Civil Society (CIPACI)”.
