Film and debate: Slum towns in South America
Thursday 28 May at 15:30-17:00, Roskilde University, Auditorium, building 45.
Interdisciplinary inspiration for field work: Are you aware of which discourses you bring in your backpack when travelling to unknown societies and people? Do you know what influence the encounter with their realities may have on you?
Come and learn about the historical and social backgrounds of slums in South America, notably Peru – told by PhD candidate Dora Navarro. See the documentary film “Paraíso – a travel diary” (it’s in Danish!), about the experiences of western travellers. Meet the film instructor Patricia Davelouis and hear her tell about how social reality can be represented in film.
The event is arranged by: Students at Development Studies, the network “New Thinking on Citizenship, Authority and Public Space in Latin America”, and Ørecomm.
