by Ørecomm on 2009 September 22 12:18

Julie Knudsen and Agnete Kofoed, students related to Ørecomm have won one of this year´s two RUC-innovation prizes. The prize was awarded for a prototype of a computer game that will help youth in Malawi to navigate securely in a world of HIV/Aids. Thus the game will help reduce the number of newly infected in Malawi. The Malawi youth playing the game will confront a number of everyday dilemmas to solve before they can proceed in the game. The game idea was developed on the basis of extensive material collected in Malawi.

The prize committee has emphasized the innovative ICT-based approach to combatting HIV/Aids, and also that the proposal is developed in full also with contacts to potential production partners. The computer game may possibly be transferred also to other countries and cultures. Julie and Agnete received the prize at the RUC annual feast on 18 September 2009.

Ørecomm co-director, professor Thomas Tufte was among the supervisors.
