CfP: “Satire and Caricature as Tools for Political and Democratic Spaces?”

by Ørecomm on 2010 December 1 01:56

Time has come to plan for the fourth European Conference on African Studies (ECAS4) to be held in Uppsala, Sweden, from 15 to 18 June 2011. We are happy to announce that our panel proposal has been accepted, and that we now can invite paper abstracts under the panel entitled: “Satire and Caricature as Tools for Political and Democratic Spaces?”. See the panel proposal here.

The conference organisers for ECAS 4 have accepted 160 panels, so this promises to be a large international conference, with scholars from a wide range of disciplines. Below, please find our panel description, which you can also find on the ECAS4 official website.

Please note that the deadline for a paper proposal is 22 December 2010, through the abstract submission system. All proposals will go through a standardized review process, and notification of the result will be given in late February 2011.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer any assistance with regard to the registration fee, travel or accomodation expenses. Registration for the reduced early bird fee will be open until 15 March 2011. There are possibilities for reduced conference fees for registered PhD students. Participants will have to arrange their own accommodation, and the conference organisers have secured conference rates at a few places in Uppsala. For details on all such practical matters, please refer to the conference website.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for questions or comments. We hope to hear from you, and look forward to an exiting conference in Uppsala next summer.
