Online: Survey on (German) media assistance

The German Forum Media and Development (FoME) has published a survey on media assistance. Twenty-one German organisations give an overview of their activities in the field in a report that may be downloaded here (pdf, 1 MB). The results in a nutshell:

“New specialised actors have emerged; new concepts in strengthening the professional capacity of media have been introduced; tailormade instruments for monitoring and evaluation are being developed; the investments in media development cooperation seem to be expanding. However, German media development cooperation continues to be inadequate at strengthening a supportive legal and regulatory environment and economic sustainability of media in developing and transitional countries.”
