Ørecomm at IAMCR, Istanbul:
Book launch by Thomas Tufte and Jair Vega
At the launch of “Trazos de una otra comunicación en América Latina. Prácticas comunitárias, teorías y demandas sociales”, during the IAMCR conference in Istanbul, editors Thomas Tufte and Jair Vega stressed the importance of Dr. Cicilia Krohling Peruzzo’s leadership of the Alaic working group “Community, popular and citizen communication”, as well as her participation in the selection and reviewing of contributions.
The editors also pointed to the contributions of a prologue and an epilogue by Jorge González and Cesar Bolaño, respectively.
During the launch a general presentation was made of the three parts of the book, highlighting the fact that cases represent different countries of Latin America, including also one case from Tanzania. It was also noted that the book is bi-lingual, in Portuguese and Spanish, and that it is freely available online. Read or download (7.4 Mb) the complete book from the publisher’s website, or download as a slimmed pdf here (3.6 Mb).
The editors pointed to the coincidence of the proposals of the text with discussions and challenges within IAMCR, such as multilingualism and issues of communication, participation, citizenship and social movements.
Among those thanked for their support were the Danish network, Alaic and the Universidad del Norte, through Ediciones Uninorte.
