Conference: Aid for Gender Equality

How can the goal of gender equality be achieved and facilitated through foreign aid? This will be discussed on December 16 when ReCom (Research and Communication on Foreign Aid), a UNU-WIDER coordinated research programme based in Copenhagen, is organizing a conference on the subject.

Gender equality and women’s empowerment are central to improved living standards, well-being, and economic growth. This has prompted donors to increase foreign aid resources for gender equality related initiatives. Yet, the actual impact of these interventions has not received much attention by donors, policy makers or academics.
