Weekend’s Food for Thought

by Yuliya on 2015 May 17 14:04

Today is the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia. How can storytelling assist equality building? This week we look at Free&Equal communication campaign and, as always, offer you opportunities for your C4D toolkit.

Can you see Past the Label?

“I believe that all people are born free and equal, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.” Press Agree or Disagree. This is a welcome message when visiting Free & Equal website launched by UN in 2013 in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender equality. Honouring May 17, the International Day against Homophobia & Transphobia, the United Nations presents video Faces composed of stories of real people around the globe willing to contribute to the project .

Innovate, Connect, Transform

ICT 2015 is promised to be the biggest ICT event in Europe. Planned to take place in Lisbon in autumn 2015, it will consist of exhibitions, conferences and networking meetings where consultants, researchers and young practitioners can share practices as well as hear more about initiatives and funding opportunities. Students and innovators in ICT are welcome to apply until May 31.

Takeaway from Bonn

“It’s time for leaders in all sectors to stretch themselves and their organizations well beyond their comfort zones.” This statement is an introduction to The Stretch Agenda project launched earlier this week by John Elkington at Bonn Conference for Global Transformation. While it appears that a debate about global changes in Bonn lacks media coverage, we think that reading the publication of The Stretch Agenda: Breakthrough in the Boardroom can give some insights and ideas for Post-2015 leadership.

SDGs in an Interactive Format

Thinking about it we have just found an interactive timeline which highlights key milestones of post- Rio+20 and Post-2015 Development Agenda. It allows you to navigate through the negotiations between stakeholders from September 2014 until December 2015. You can click on each milestone and find out more about its implementation. January 2016, according to the timeline, is a “likely date of new global goals to become active.” Yet with question marks.
