by Yuliya on 2015 September 17 15:58

Ørecomm researchers Anders Høg Hansen, Ylva Ekström, with Tanzania-based researcher Shani Omari have presented their project  that explores how to make youth interested in learning about cultural heritage.

A new House of Culture opened its doors in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 4 years ago with an ambition to turn a former museum into an interactive space for youth engagement. During 2012 and 2013, when the idea was in its earliest stage of development, Ørecomm researchers Anders Høg Hansen, Ylva Ekström, with Shani Omari conducted research at the museum. Based on their observations and interviews with staff  as well as visitors of the House of Culture, a photo essay was prepared. 10 parts of the essay The House of Culture. Tanzanian Youth and Social Engagement at the Intersection of Arts and New Media are now available online.
