Glocal Times Celebrating the 10th Anniversary

Communication for Development research field would be unimaginable without Glocal Times  magazine that celebrates its 10th birthday.

“What has changed over the ten years since Glocal Times was first published? Or have things stayed the same? Is communication for development now truly out from under the bushel? In my view there are good news and bad news, which calls for a creative balance,” writes Jackie Davies in her contribution to the latest issue of Glocal Times.

More about good and bad news as well as achievements and new challenges could be read in the 22/23 anniversary issue of the magazine that has served as a platform for knowledge sharing and discussing current trends in the field of communications for development. Glocal Times started operating in 2005 in the frame of Malmö University’s Master program in Communication for Development. Since then 23 issues were published with contributions from academics and practitioners from all around the globe.

Glocal Times is unique in its nature since it combines social, economic, cultural approaches to communications. The editorial team consists of Ørecomm members: co-director Oscar Hemer and Florencia Enghel as well as Rebecca Bengtsson, a former ComDev member, who currently serves as a Communications Officer of TIPH in Palestine.

Silvia Balit who was amongst pioneers of C4D practitioners back in 1969 in Agroculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) says that “the publication is thought provoking and an original forum for ideas and issues related to communication for development and social change”.
